Only after the fog has cleared at least a little does it make sense to move to any other branch.

9.3. If the Barrier Before the Task is Too High

  3. Background presence. Recordings like “study with me,” coffee shop noise, a background video call with strangers who are also working silently—a weaker variant than live presence, but always accessible and partially delivers the same effect.

Part B. New System Architecture

The problem is that anxiety before a difficult or unpleasant task rarely goes away on its own until the task is started, and waiting for its disappearance can last hours, days, weeks.

The Japanese therapeutic tradition Morita, from which the principle of Arugamama originates, suggests flipping this sequence 180 degrees. The idea isn’t to calm down and then act. The idea is to act alongside the anxiety, without waiting for it to leave. The mechanics here are direct: fighting your own unease is a separate, highly taxing activity that consumes almost as much psychic energy as the task itself. When a person stops spending this energy trying to calm down before working, this energy is freed up—and goes directly into the action itself. The anxiety doesn’t disappear. It simply stops being an obstacle and becomes the background against which the work takes place.

It lies in how accurately the person understands what exactly is happening inside them.
